Cammina, Mangia, Ascolta: a special day in Campo
This year’s edition led us along a slightly more demanding route — not for the distance, but for the elevation gain. We started from the church of San Nicolò in Assenza, climbed to Sant’Antonio della Pontera, and then entered the woods on the way to Campo.
Meanwhile, in Campo, an unexpected burst of energy swept through the village: a group of athletes arrived almost running, pushing a brand‑new joëlette to the rhythm of music, on its very first outing. On board was a special passenger: Natthan, a young man from Brenzone, moved and smiling.
A moment that warmed everyone — his smile, the strength of the group, the joy of those who believed in this inclusive project. An image that will stay with us.
When we reached Campo, the village was already alive: the vegetable soup was boiling, the polenta carbonera was nearly ready, and the air carried the scent of celebration. With the arrival of the walking group, the feast truly began. Children and adults spread through the alleys, bringing the village back to life as every year.
In the afternoon, The Hot Teapots began tuning their instruments. Their music filled Campo — among olive trees, stone walls, and a shy sun that stayed with us until late afternoon.
And while that timid sun warmed us just enough, lying on the grass or sitting on the old walls, we felt once again that kind of magic that cannot be explained. It can only be lived.
